| Another creature is the Thorny Devil living deserts of southern and western Australia. He is 10 to 15 cm long, show moving, a coward. When scared, the lizard tocks its head between its front legs. Then a spiny pritusion on the back of its neck comes to the resque to sit in place of the real head. Like its fake head the Thorny Devil' s spiki skin performs double duty. The lizard sports a hygroscopic system of skin grooves. The thousands of grooves and spikes collect rainwater and deuv during cold desert nights. He moves water dain grooves into its mouth. |
