The ULURU

It is a huge rock
that sticks out
in the middle of the desert.

The Uluru

It is over nine kilometres around
and over 348 metres high.

It is believed to be
about 600 millions years old,
and was once part
of a mountain range
that disappeared
because of the erosion of
rain and wind.

When the sun moves across the sky, the rock changes colour... Uluru at the sunset
from delicate mauve, blues, pinks,
brown to red.
It is a sacred place to the Pitjanjara Aboriginal tribe.
